This word processing software is perfect for most users’ needs thanks to its clean layout and careful creation
This word processing software breaks away from the traditional
drop-down menu navigation. Microsoft Word word processing software
implements the use of tabs in what they call a "ribbon" instead. Each
time you click on a tab, a menu opens that doesn't close until you click
on another tab. This can be a useful tool to use during different
stages of document creation. For example, while you are editing a
document you can have the Reference tab open so all of the editing tools
are available with one click.
This type of layout also makes it easy to find the tool you are
looking for. Each tab displays tools using large fonts and icons. The
whole program is very intuitive, which will make it easy for new users
to learn.
Microsoft Word word processing software has all of the basics that
you would expect from word processing software, with a few extras mixed
in.
Want to make sure that no one prints out your document and
distributes it as their own? Use the watermark feature to add your own
custom mark to every page.
Another interesting tool in this word processing software is the
highlighting feature. It works just like using a highlighting marker.
You select the text you want to highlight, choose the color of your
highlight and click the highlight button. This feature is helpful for
keeping track of certain passages in the document you may want to refer
to later.
Sometimes when you are writing a lengthy document such as an eBook or
reference paper, you may want to leave a note like, "see table on page 7
for more information." But what if you move the table to page six and
forget to change the note? This is where Word's Cross-Reference option
helps out. Using this button, you can add notes that will automatically
change themselves if the item they refer to is moved. This can save a
lot of time and can help avoid errors in the document. What a great
feature to be added to word processing software.
If you hate setting up formatting for each part of a document, you're
in luck. You can use the Format Painter to copy a format in your
document and paste elsewhere. The new format is set up automatically.
Getting rid of the formatting is easy, too. Simply push the Clear
Formatting button and start from scratch. If you don't want to mess with
any type of formatting, but still want a clean, professional looking
document, then Word's templates may be the answer. Word has dozens of
pre-made documents, such as chore lists, brochures, business cards and
contracts; you can add your text to. The only application that can match
Word's vast number of templates is Microsoft Works.
If you just want to add a certain style to a passage, such as a
heading or a quote, you can use the style toolbar to automatically
change the text to the style format of your choice. If you copy and
paste from one document to another, the Normal style button will change
the text to a predetermined font and size so that all of the text in
your document matches.
Microsoft Word word processing software has the best selection of
editing tools around. No matter what your writing level, chances are,
with this word processing software, you can produce a neat and tidy
document free of most errors.
In the Reference section you can check your spelling, grammar, word
count, character count, and look up words, you can also choose whether
you want your document have citations in certain style guidelines such
as APA, MLA, Chicago and more. This can be very handy for the
professional writer or the student that needs to produce a document that
is a certain style.
Paper writers will also love that Word has a bibliography button that
helps you insert properly-formatted bibliographies depending on the
style guide you choose.
If you are editing a document with another person, you may want to
use the Comment option. This allows you to add notes to the document
that the other person will be able to clearly see when they look over
the document.
You may want to see the changes the other person made to the
document, as well. Word has a tracking system that can show you the
changes made to a document in red, so it is easy to see how the document
has evolved. If you really hate the changes, there is a Reject button
that quickly changes the document back to the original wording.
Need to translate a foreign document into English so that you can
read it? No problem, Word can do that to. All you have to do is press
the Translate button. A menu pops up and allows you to select the
language you want to translate the document to. Using this process, you
can also change a document into more than 25 different languages
including Greek, French and Japanese.
Worried that you will never figure out all of the commands that
Microsoft Word word processing software offers? The good folks at
Microsoft have come up with the perfect solution that should help you
get through the learning process or help build on your Microsoft Word
skills.
They offer several online tutorials that you can take at your
convenience. The training courses range from about ten minutes to about
thirty minutes and cover a wide range of topics. At the end of each
training course a short quiz is offered to show you if you have grasped
the new concepts or not. The test is multiple choice and if you select
an incorrect answer, you are shown the correct answer and provided an
explanation as to what the incorrect answer refers to.
